You can become a member of the Society if you would like to support our work.  You do not have to be a professional or an amateur musician, just someone who enjoys and appreciates the wide range of classical chamber music the Society provides.

While the Society’s concerts are open to all, membership brings important advantages both for you and for the Society:

For you:

The opportunity to support Edinburgh’s oldest musical Society (founded in 1887), and to influence its continuing development.  Management of the Society’s affairs is in the hands of its Council, appointed each year from among the Society’s members and responsible to them;

Notification each month, by e-mail, of the details of the Society’s forthcoming weekly programmes;

Regular enjoyment of the Society’s varied and exciting concert programme and of its uniquely intimate and convivial performance environment: a superb recital room, interval refreshments provided without charge, opportunities for post-performance discussion with soloists;

Preferential access to concerts expected to be in high demand.

For the Society:

Members constitute a community that sustains and invigorates the Society’s pursuit of its purpose to promote and encourage the study, practice and knowledge of music, in and around Edinburgh.

Members furnish the informed and appreciative audience essential to the concert experience and career development of young musicians.

Members, through their fees, provide a stable income stream to help in meeting  the costs of the Society’s concert programme.

Members provide the Society’s management and call that management to account.

Membership applications and renewals for the 2024-25 season are now being accepted, and there is no increase in fees this season.
